Using the Visualizer VZ0001 and VZ0002 with Google Meet

2 min read

When using Google Meet to conduct meetings, seminars or tutoring students you can use your Visualizer a a camera source to annotate and display content that is in view of your Visualizer. There are a couple of steps that need to be completed before your Chrome browser will allow the Visualizer to be selected as a camera source. Let’s have a look at what these are:

Step 1: Connect your Visualizer to your PC/Laptop

  • You can do this by connecting the USB cable from the Visualizer to your pc/laptop
    • In the event of the VZ0002 Deluxe visualizer, please ensure that you have connected the power adaptor and that the device is switched on.
  • Open either the built in camera application or the Visualizer software to ensure that the visualizer is picking up correctly

Step 2: Open Chrome and go to Google Meet

Step 3: Allow access for Chrome to use plugged in devices

Step 4: Select the correct device for video

Go to settings on the bottom three ellipses. NB – Should you still want your webcam or VC camera active, you do not have to perform this step

Select Video on the left pane and select the Visualizer as you camera. NB – Should you still want your webcam or VC camera active, you do not have to perform this step

Step 5: Sharing your screen

Now click on the screen sharing option on the bottom bar:

If you have the Visualizer software or camera application open, you can select them by choosing “A Window” share and choosing the application from there. Alternatively you can share your whole screen by selecting “Your entire screen”.

Below is a video demonstration of a session where the delegates are visible as well as the shared visualizer:

If you have followed the steps correctly, everyone in your meeting / session will no be able to see the screen you have shared.

If the chosen software is the Visualizer application then you now have the ability to annotate over the content that is under the Visualizer allowing you to conduct a full demonstration of your material.

Should you experience any difficulty, please do not hesitate to send an ticket to pi.support@parrot.co.za and one of our technicians will be able to assist you.
